Privacy notice
UKFuelPrices.uk is designed to work without an account and without tracking you. This notice explains exactly what is stored and why.
Who we are
UKFuelPrices.uk is an independent fuel price comparison service covering the UK. For data protection questions, contact hello@ukfuelprices.uk.
What we collect
- Preferences — theme, text size, fuel grade, vehicle settings, filters and your last searched area are stored in your browser (localStorage). They never leave your device.
- Saved stations — favourite station IDs you choose to pin are stored in your browser (localStorage) on this device only. No account or email is required.
- Location — if you tap “use my location”, your coordinates are used only to sort and rank stations while the page is open. They are not sent to us or stored on a server.
- Journey route coordinates — if you use the route planner, your departure and destination coordinates are sent anonymously to public OpenStreetMap routing engines (OSRM and Valhalla) to calculate the driving line, journey time, and nearby stations. We do not store or track your journey routes.
- Approximate area — on your first visit we may make one request to an IP geolocation service (ipwho.is) to centre the map on your approximate city. The result is kept only in this browser session for up to 6 hours and is never stored on our servers, used for savings, or used for advertising.
- Server logs — our hosting provider records standard technical request logs (IP address, browser, time) for security and reliability.
What we do not do
We do not sell data, build advertising profiles, use third-party tracking pixels, or require an account to use the service.
Lawful basis
Preferences and location sorting rely on your consent (by using the feature). Security logs rely on our legitimate interest in keeping the service available. All preference and saved station settings are stored locally on your device and can be cleared by you at any time.
Retention
Preferences stay in your browser until you clear them. Server logs are retained by our hosting provider for a short security period.
Your rights
Under the UK GDPR you can request access, correction, deletion, restriction, portability, or object to processing. Because we hold no account data, most requests can be met by clearing your browser storage. Contact us to exercise any right.
Children
The service is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect their data.
Changes
We will update this notice if the service changes. The date below shows the last revision.
