Data sources and licence

We want to be precise about what we use, what we are permitted to do with it, and what we do not do.

Fuel prices

Prices, station details and amenities come from the UK Government's Fuel Finder service, established by The Motor Fuel Price (Open Data) Regulations 2025 (SI 2025/1356) and operated for the Department for Energy Security and Net Zero. Stations must report price changes within 30 minutes.

What we are permitted to do

The scheme is designed to be used by comparison websites and application developers. We display prices and station details with attribution, and we calculate our own statistics from them.

What we do not do

We do not sell, license or redistribute the raw feed, and we do not operate a data API for third parties. We are not affiliated with the Department for Energy Security and Net Zero, the Competition and Markets Authority, or GOV.UK.

Attribution

Contains public sector information licensed under the Open Government Licence v3.0. Fuel price data: GOV.UK Fuel Finder (DESNZ/CMA).

Maps

Map data © OpenStreetMap contributors, available under the Open Database Licence. Base maps use OpenFreeMap/OpenMapTiles, Esri World Imagery and OpenTopoMap; each is attributed on the map.

Place names

Town and village suggestions use a normalised subset of the GeoNames UK dataset, © GeoNames contributors, licensed under CC BY 4.0. The data is bundled locally for fast, offline place disambiguation; no GeoNames API is called when you type.

Icons

Amenity icons use Material Icons by Google LLC, licensed under the Apache License 2.0. The air icon uses Lucide, licensed under the ISC License. Vehicle icons use Phosphor Icons, licensed under the MIT License. Only the icons used by the product are included; the licence texts are in /assets/icons/.

Fonts

Manrope, Space Grotesk and JetBrains Mono are used under the SIL Open Font Licence. Roboto Mono is used under the Apache License 2.0.

Brand names and logos

Brand names and logos are the trademarks of their owners. We use them only to identify the station you are looking at, not to suggest any endorsement or partnership.

Reporting an error

Prices are published by the station. If a price or station detail is wrong, report it to GOV.UK so it is corrected at source.
